Mr H (2026): Studio Work
Digital drawing on iPad.
Mr H was created in 2026 as a digital portrait and homage to Daniel’s ultimate art hero, David Hockney. Drawn on iPad, the piece celebrates an artist whose influence reaches far beyond painting – shaping Daniel’s relationship with colour, portraiture and the possibility of seeing the world through a distinctly queer lens.
Leaning into vivid colour, graphic linework and Hockney’s unmistakable visual presence, the portrait aims to capture something beyond likeness alone. There’s warmth, individuality and quiet irreverence in the image – a reflection of an artist who spent decades making space for difference, curiosity and joy.
Created following Hockney’s passing, David sits somewhere between portrait and thank you – a personal tribute to an artist whose work, visibility and way of seeing continue to leave a lasting mark.
