Hard Candy 2.0 revisits the original work through a new lens, created in celebration of London Pride. Presented on a larger scale, the piece allows the bold colour, expressive detail and hand-applied embellishments to take on greater presence.

The work explores the relationship between sweetness, surface and identity, using humour, exaggeration and vibrant colour to play with familiar perceptions of gay culture.

The addition of hand-applied rhinestone embellishment heightens the contrast between appearance and meaning, embracing glamour and excess while inviting a deeper look beyond the surface. What initially appears playful and decorative becomes a reflection on identity, visibility and the complexity behind the images we create.
